What will happen during my first Mental Health Service appointment?

Your first appointment will last for about 50 minutes. You may be asked to complete a brief questionnaire about your mental health and we will explain our procedures and our confidentiality code.

The Mental Health Adviser will work with you to explore possible solutions to the difficulties you are experiencing. This may include offering advice and information about the issues you face, and recommending the most appropriate ongoing support for you. 

This could include follow-up meetings with a Mental Health Adviser; Specialist Mentoring (if in receipt of DSAs); support and/or treatment from your GP/Doctor; counselling or workshop attendance through the University Counselling Service or access to Statutory Mental Health Services.

All Mental Health Advisers abide by a strict confidentiality code. and take your confidentiality and data protection very seriously.
